  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I access my district's EdInsight system?

Each district's EdInsight login and password information is different.  If you are a new user of the EdInsight software, you should have received your unique web address, username and password from a member of the OnHand Schools staff.

If you have logged to EdInsight before--and do not know, or cannot remember--your web address and login information, please contact your district's IT staff, or curriculum manager.

Why is my username/password not working?

First, be sure that you are accessing your district's version of EdInsight.  Each district's software is located at a different web address.  Look at the the URL that you have entered, or clicked on [if you went through an existing link or search engine].  If some part of this URL contains your district's name, then the error is more likely in your login information.

Re-enter your unique username and password.  If they are still not working, check with your IT staff to see if it was changed for some reason.

Finally, if you are still having problems accessing the EdInsight software, contact support@onhandschools.com.   We may have recently made modifications to part your district's account.

*Note: OnHand Schools will always send you a notification e-mail prior to changing your login information if it becomes necessary to do so.

Why am I getting an error message in EdInsight?

The EdInsight software may be experiencing slight technical difficulties, or may be temporarily down for maintenance.  You can be assured that a member of the OnHand Schools staff is working hard to restore your ability to access the software.

Please wait patiently as we fix the problem, or- if you would like, you can send an email to our support email address.  For the fastest response, copy your error message into the body of the email, so that our support staff knows exactly where the problem is.

What does it mean to 'link' a student?

Within EdInsight, your district's system administrator is given the ability to 'link' a particular student to his/her assessment data.  A student becomes 'unlinked' to assessment data if his/her results return with a different name than what is in your student information system.  (Possible reasons: spelling error, John Smith Jr., hyphenated last name, etc.)

The process of re-linking students in EdInsight is quite simple, as your system Administrator is given all of the tools they need on one screen to quickly and easily re-attach student assessment data to the appropriate student based upon simple filtering methods.  If you have any further questions regarding the linking process, or your 'sysadmin' role, please contact support@onhandschools.com.

How do I put information in the Data Uploader?

Adding information into the EdInsight Data Uploader is a very simple process.  You can begin uploading your data once you have defined the format of it.   This can be completed in the System Administrator role.  After logging in, click on Data Manager > Define A Data Set.  Type a name in for you new data set, click continue.   Next, define the columns for your data set, click continue.  Visibility must also be defined-- (default setting: visible to student and teacher roles)  Click 'Save Data Set Definition.' (Questions? See link below.)

In order to easily maintain the data you have uploaded, select Data Manager > Manage Data Sets.  From this screen, you will be able to: edit set definition, edit visibility, upload data, view data, and/or delete a data set definition.  Uploading data is easily completed from this screen by browsing to the file you would like to upload and clicking 'Upload Now.'  A large graphic will appear if your upload is successful.
